Maths - Measurement of length

This week the children have been identifying the difference between mum, cm and km as well as m to km.

First, they drew lines using a ruler accurately to within one mm. At first some found this tricky, however, by the third attempt everyone was able to use a ruler precisely. Then, they moved onto converting mm to cm and cm to mm. They all enjoyed measuring the width of their nails to compare who had the widest nail. Then they debated whether they would use, mm, cm or metres to measure a point on their pencil, mouse or a car. From there, they began to use their multiplication and division skills to convert between the different units.

Well done to you all this week.
