English — non-chronological reports
This week we have been exploring the history of the school in order to create our own non-chronological reports.
We are very lucky to have a whole host of documents, photographs, certificates, newspaper clippings, census information and even some old pieces of work which cover the history of Gurnard Primary School since the original building was constructed on Hilton Road in 1906. The children were very excited to get stuck into using them to conduct their own research.
With our research, we looked at the features of a non-chronological report and began to organise what we had uncovered into subheadings. The children were fascinated by comparing new and old and created some really interesting fact-based writing. The project even lead to a brand-new display in the corridor. Well done, Year 5!
